Nestled in Little Cottonwood Canyon, about 20 minutes southeast of Salt Lake City, Utah is Snowbird.
We absolutely love exploring along Little Cottonwood Creek and the on expansive hiking/biking trails that network around Snowbird. You can also ride a tram to the summit of a mountain peak for scenic views of the mountain ranges and a peak at the Salt Lake Valley. It's truly a site to see. In the winter, the skiing is phenomenal and the views are just as breathtaking.
The resort-style village at the base of Snowbird is complete with restaurants and shops, as well as seasonal outdoor activities for the whole family. In the summer, you can take a ride on the alpine slide or mountain coaster, climb the rock wall, challenge yourself on the ropes course, jump on the bungee trampoline, mine for gemstones, or let your kids bounce on the inflatables. All year round, Snowbird features live music and events as well. Whether you go for a few hours, a day, or stay overnight in their lodge, Snowbird is a breath of fresh air away from city life and provides the perfect landscape exploring outdoors.
It's not uncommon to run across wild moose while you're hiking. Be aware that, while they are accustomed to interactions with people, they are wild animals and will act impulsively if prompted to. So keep your distance and continue along the trail without bothering them.
