One of the big reasons why we started 702 Xventures was to make it easier for people to get off-road and explore the incredible landscapes that the Earth has to offer. We'd get out on the trail, following what we supposed was a reliable map, only to find that it was completely wrong. It was aggravating to say the least. So we decided to make our own maps. And make them available for everyone, FREE of charge.
Literally the only caveat is that if you want to make the most of our maps, you will want to download them to use offline. Which, honestly, is almost everywhere we go off-road. We very rarely have cell service when we're out exploring. And we like it that way. It's nice to unplug, recharge and let go of life's pressures and demands. Even if just for a bit.
We've searched and searched for good (and affordable) options to make our maps usable offline. We hit a landmine when we found Gaia GPS. It's the easiest mapping software you'll ever use. The Gaia GPS app is free, with access to the default map source. You can't download our maps for offline use with the free membership level though. So you'll want to step it up and get a membership. It's only $19.99 per year, with 40% off for a 5-year membership. You'll get access to over 50 topo, satellite and road maps that cover the whole world. You can then download the 702 Xventure maps for offline trips. No cell service required, simply download our maps ahead of time for when you're off-grid, adventuring or traveling. You can also print a variety of topo, satellite and road maps with grids and overlays. Gaia GPS is well worth the yearly subscription cost. And allows you to plan trips and stay more safe while you're out exploring.
