Notes: If you're looking for a combination of challenging terrain, scenic landscape, towering canyons, and water... The Burro Wash Trail is a run you'll want to put near the top of your list. However, be forewarned this is not a trail for beginners. It's a one-way trail that's quite steep and rocky, with climbing, along with soft, sandy wash ways. It truly has a bit of everything, which makes for a fun adventure! The Burro Wash Trail is located southeast of Boulder City, Nevada and drops you right onto the banks of the Colorado River. From Las Vegas, Nevada, it's roughly 40 minutes to the trailhead. Exercise caution around corners and on hills, as the trail is narrow with no room for passing.

When you get down to the bottom of the first set of switchbacks (about 6.5 miles into the trail), you'll have the option of either following the power line trail or heading left on the wash way. Both trails eventually meet up again, but the wash way is the less challenging route. Once you get down near the banks of the Colorado River, you'll find a canyon of towering red rock that you can drive back into. It eventually dead-ends, but is well-worth exploring either on foot or in your off-road vehicle. The Burro Wash Trail is one that you'll likely want to take your time exploring, so be sure to pack enough food and water for the day. In the summertime, the Colorado River is the perfect place to cool off mid-day as well.

Trail conditions are always changing, so be careful out there and TREAD LIGHTLY.  Leave no trace. Pack in. Pack out.
