Notes:  Located just south of Bonnie Springs Ranch in the heart of Red Rock Canyon, Nevada is the Black Velvet Road Trail. Relatively easy to navigate for any vehicle with off-road capabilities, the Black Velvet Road Trail is perfect for a quick trail run, hiking or mountain biking. The best access point is along Blue Diamond Hwy 160, in the southwest region of Las Vegas, Nevada, right before the highway takes the climb to Mount Potosi. The Black Velvet Road Trail has several side trails that branch off, but eventually converge back to the main trail. Be cautious of pedestrians on foot or bike, should you run this trail in your vehicle. You may also see wild burros. Although they appear friendly, keep in mind, they are wild animals and will act as such. There is a $500 fine for feeding wild burros, so this is one time that sharing is not caring. Keep your snacks to yourself. Sunrise and sunset are the most scenic times to explore due to the breathtaking views you'll see of the sunlit mountains in Red Rock Canyon. Pack a camera and enjoy the views.

Trail conditions are always changing, so be careful out there and TREAD LIGHTLY.  Leave no trace. Pack in. Pack out.
